Happy niouyear!

Artwork by Tandhruil (http://tandhruil.deviantart.com/art/Joyeuse-Fin-du-monde-422588409)

By the way, program for January:

All titles in red:
http://pingrhell.blogspot.fr/p/tutorials.html

Some NMM training (I hate this tech ^^), a REALLY cool futurist Girl, and maybe a trick to do titles with aluminium sheet.

Maybe more, but it's all I can promise for now.

Review and tricks : Special effects from Games Workshop™ [ENG/FR]

Hi everyone!
Salut tout le monde!

Today, we are going to test new colors "special effects" from GW and in... average english, if you please! ;)

Apparently, I am the first to do this type of test, whether on  Tutofig or on this blog.
Warning: I am not part of Games Workshop, and if these paintings have flaws, I will not bother me to say it... Rem's will also be a review of these colours, and I expect there will be nothing to see between our two test! ^^
I would use a test model, the quality is average, but it was really to test these new colors (for Agrellan Earth, I would use a more recent painting).
Firstly, the price of the colours is the same, and knowing GW, it's pretty weird. But hey, we will not complain!

The pots are still poorly made and fragile, hinges break easily, and dripping paint in the groove of the cap, making it difficult to close.. :(
Let see now, one by one:
Voyons maintenant peinture par peinture:

Nurgle's Rot: Not bad, even if the drying make rendering a bit random, and it's impossible to dye.

Typhus Corrosion: a very good painting, a cool textured rendering, very friendly to dry then with Ryza Rust, it is true that rendering is amplified (in metals only, the rest, does not rust ;)!) Typhus C. can also serve as mud, it gives a very good effect, you can varnish it to give an impression of wet mud if you wish.

Nihilakh Oxyde: very covering, carrefull; use sparingly. The "verdigris" effect is average. In total glaze, it may be fine however...

Blood for the god of blood: A great way to say it is fun to use, greater control than "Vitrail" colours, less versatility than Tamiya colours. Take care to your stroke, it takes a little practice to obtain a good result (as evidenced by this test)!

A word about Agrelan Earth: this is not yet the ultimate crackling colour or paste, but it's not bad. Still, not completely convinced, the major drawback is that it is difficult to paint cracks when dry and if you mix the paint Agrellan, it will not crack anymore!

Regardless, these colors are pretty good overall, if you want a complete collection of colors already sufficient, it is a good buy, otherwise it is not really worth wasting money. ^^

I hope this review will help you to choose carefully without give too much money to an eeeevil company!

Cheers fellows!

The Girl and the Bath: Final thing

Hi everyone!

Well this is the result of my diorama cause it's finally done!
In recent weeks, I wanted to finish the base, in a very colorful and warm autumn spirit.

The goal was to figure out a girl bathing in the tears of a giant turned to stone but keeping a piece of living face, crying of his misfortune.

The figure comes from Hasslefree, and the rest is entirely sculpted by me.

Well, that's all for today, if you have any comments or otherwise, do not hesitate!

Bis bald!

H

Some "doodidadidooo"

Hi guys!

Today, just a little post to show you (and especially to show her) the uggliest christmas gift ever! x)

No, I joke, but it could have been much better, I had to finish the sculpture and painting in a few hours, so...

I took few pictures to show the path to the final product.

Some drawing to train before sculpture
1h30 later
Forget to take a shoot of final paint... This one is the most advanced I have... Sorry guys! ;)

Well, I hope you enjoy it, and it pleases to her, 'cause I love my little bird. ^^

Cheers!

P.S: I don't know yet if this post will stay a long time, it will depend on the goodwill of the Mickey's owner! ^^
P.S²: A little joke for my french friends: "Vous savez pourquoi Mario Bros? Parce que Mickey Mousse! :D"

If I die, the world will not be as fun as before...

Hey buddies!

Let me introduce myself. Rem's!
My english isn't as good as Had's one, but I will work on it.

So, I worked at Games Workshop, and I like to play with my figs.

In a matter of fact, I will give a GW backing to this blog.

Army painting, fast painting, playable conversions, that's my work!

I'm painting only with Citadel colours :)

My next projects for this blog:

- A gift for a friend. So one fig with lava and test of the new citadel painting.
- How to paint savages Orcs like a boss in 5 (or 6) steps.
- How to paint detailed Bad moonz... I saw you laughing at the 2nd row! I know it's ork too, but you know what? I will tell you...
Just keep wagh and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

See you soon for my first publication!

And WAAAAAAAAAGH every time you can!

Enter the Rem's

Hi everyone!

Good news today, I'm not alone! A very good friend named Rem's joined me in my little adventure!

Artwork by Tim-Macburnie (http://tim-mcburnie.deviantart.com/art/Ork-Gunner-Mk2-119207586)

We paint together for a long time, since I was still in Games Workshop's petticoats (he is still in love with the brand ;) ).

Always in a good mood, he has a lot of talent and it is with pleasure that I welcome him, he will  share his passion for the Orks and big guns with you!

He might present its work, some tutorials because it does not work like me at all, not many sculpts but who knows, may be he will afterall!

The word of Rem's: "eeeh... Waaagh?..."

Thanks you a lot!

A standing ovation for my friend! What a great Christmas gift! ^ ^

Some WIP's!

Hi there!

For Christmas, I could not leave you without a little gift indeed!
Here is the wip of an historical figure's sculpt (I'll leave you in suspense for the name), my first by the way!

Placement of the first volumes (I had no wire, so I took the nails, it works too).

More accuracy on matters of volume, pose arms and some effects of folds and cloak

Well, I leave you to go stuff myself full of good things, because you know what? It's Christmas! :D

Merry christmas!

Merry Pics-mas

Merry Pics-mas fellows, and don't drink too much! ;)

Cheers!

Black is black

Hello there!

As I watched the fabulous blog Massive Voodoo (on the "friendsbox"), I suddenly wanted to post you a little miniature! ;)

There are two Nubian Girls in Hasslefree (on the "friendsbox" too! Wow! x) ), such a wonderful company, very nice people...

I find it hard to paint black skin, I don't really do much of these,  that I can not train as many time as I want...
I assume that dark skin golden reflections tie a little on the green, anyway, effect is correct.

It was also a crash test for Agrellan Earth by Games Workshop, one of the new paints "special effects".
I would have you a review soon about these new paints, not so bad!

Well, see you soon fellows, and merry merry Christmas mutha' fucka'!!

Cheers.

Some Music and stress

Coffee / vodka / Amon Amarth.

The top three-quartet-quinté + to complete a Christmas gift at time.

Enjoy! ;)

The girl and the bath

Today we will make a small figurine in Hasslefree, very nice site, good delivery system and very cool people! :) This is a figure I've painted quite quickly, but it will probably introduce you to some common techniques and colors not so common! ;) On photo of each step, you also will found the photo of each color used. Except when the color is rare or special, I would not mention it's name.

First, I start with a base paint in several layers of Tau Light Ochre, about 5 to have a uniform base (sorry, I've forget the photo for this step, the mini is the one of the next one ><).

The first lights on a zenithal extended mode.

Lights further on the most sun-exposed areas.

With sepia ink (Colorex) I spend a thin layer, then I refine it with a wet brush (see my tutorial HERE on Colorex inks).

Details come next. Dark red for the drapery, hairs in the base color of the skin, cuted with ice blue, red ink on the tips of the hair to create a gradient of "blond vénitien".

The final light on the drapery, red and orange in a melted.

  The final result.

Soon, the girl will be in a diorama I sculpted, but not painted yet!
See you!

Tutorial and review: Colorex™ Inks

Hi everyone! Today a little tutorial on Colorex inks!

There are of course many translucent colors and metallic colors.

The pots are full and contain 45 ml of ink, which is much bigger than other marks of paint for a price roughly equivalent (roughly € 4, it depends on the dealer).

The main advantage of these inks is that they are not indelible, exept the three primary colors, metallic colors and black tricolor which are more resistant, although it is possible to strip. So you can work transitions once the ink dries and create very soft transitions between colors.

These inks are very useful for glazing, they create a uniform filter and dry well without creating halos (besides, you can always delete a halo if it ever created).

With a wet brush, you can remove the ink in places where you want to create the transition.

Metallic paints are fairly easy to use, in the same way as any other marks. The advantage is that the texture of the painting is similar to that of  ALCLAD 2 paintings, they dry quickly and are brighter than most other marks.

CAUTION: you must protect the inks once dry. And then it gets complicated. Touching your figure too, you will stain your fingers, you must reserve these inks figures show. The only way to protect effectively is to use matte varnish spray to avoid scaring the color below!

SO, let's recap:

+:

- not indelible inks
- bright metallics
- easy to work on, to create smooth transitions

-:

not indelible inks, hard to protect your mini against eeeeevil fingers

Well, we'll stop here for today, if you have any questions, do not hesitate!

Cheers.
